Need some instruction on your own boat?RYA courses aren't the "be all and end all" to the services we can offer. The normal 5 day RYA courses are an ideal way of building structured training and of learning to operate as a crew. On a yacht we need each other and learning to be part of a crew, and learning to be a good skipper, are as important as learning the technical skills. However on occasion the needs of an individual do not match the RYA syllabus and in these circumstances we can tailor training to meet the required objectives. A typical example would be boat handling skills. "Arrivals and departures" in conjested marinas do give rise to anxiety and a lack of confidence. A few days focused on improving these skills, on a one-to-one basis can be very beneficial.
Another example can be building logbook miles and qualifying passages towards your Yachtmaster ticket. A trip to Bangor Northern Ireland, or into the Irish Sea, can seem a daunting experience, but, an experienced skipper on board as "advisor/consultant" can be useful as well as helping to run a proper watchkeeping system. We would be pleased to have an informal chat to discuss your requirement and come up with a plan to meet your personal objectives. Rates are based on a per day basis - just give us a call for a chat. Our skippers have a wide range of sailing experience in addition to their RYA Instructing activities. Here are a few examples from the logbook of Preston Chief Instructor & Principal Greg Norris: "Sea Staff" on board sail training yacht Alba Venturer, Ocean Youth Trust Scotland.
